Kansas Democrats will meet this weekend in Topeka, Kansas, for Washington Days, a yearly gathering of Democrats. With a Democratic caucus to be held the week following, on March 5, both presidential campaigns are, of course, looking for a way to connect with activists throughout the state.
What is telling, however, are the vastly different strategies being deployed by both campaigns looking into the March 5 caucus. The strategies of both campaigns will definitely be a focus of discussion, not just this weekend, but throughout the week, as a lead up to the caucus.
Many attendees on their way to Washington Days had worried that the event was being scheduled in a way that “overly favors Hillary.” After talking to both campaigns, as well as the state party, however, I think it might be important for attendees to understand what is happening this weekend — and to offer some answers to the questions supporters of both campaigns have had.
