I’ve had to deal with a work issue and family issue over the past few days so I am playing catch up here. Received this e-mail a few days ago from former State Senator and gubernatorial candidate, Wendy Davis (D. TX), in support of Stacey Abrams' (D. GA) gubernatorial campaign:
Stacey Abrams (D. GA)
Dear Friend,
Stacey Abrams and I both grew up seeing our families struggle at times to make ends meet or having to choose which bills could go another month unpaid.
Our stories began much in the same way – with humble beginnings. But education gave us the foundation to succeed and the opportunity to dream bigger.
I am throwing my support behind Stacey Abrams as she fights to become the next Governor of Georgia because Stacey is a passionate, hardworking leader who is undoubtedly the most qualified candidate in the race. Stacey is dedicated to lifting up the next generation and giving them the foundation to jumpstart their own lives.
Our children’s education is too important to sit on the sidelines.
Stacey personifies the idea of “Deeds, not words”– she really acts on what she says. While she served as House Minority Leader in Georgia, she worked hard to make sure Georgia’s children could succeed, not just survive. And facing off against a Republican majority and Republican governor – something I too know the challenge of -- she fought to protect, and WON, the preservation of a full day of universal pre-K for four-year-olds.
As governor, we know Stacey will work to ensure our children have a future that is limitless. She knows that an adequate education system is not enough to ensure success.
Stacey’s candidacy is an opportunity to showcase Georgia to the rest of the nation as a shining example of how our nation can uphold its promise to the next generation.
