Received this e-mail today from former State Senator and gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis (D. TX) in support of Deborah Ross’ (D. NC) U.S. Senate campaign:

Sometimes things happen in politics that take everybody by surprise. No one expected a female lawmaker to stand for 13 hours straight to filibuster restrictions to reproductive care on the floor of the Texas State Senate. But I did it.
And no one expected a Democrat to make North Carolina’s Senate race competitive. But that’s exactly what my friend Deborah Ross has done.

Last year, nobody thought North Carolina would be in the mix. Everyone assumed Richard Burr and his millions in campaign cash were too much for a challenger to overcome.

Deborah defied expectations. She is in a statistical dead heat with Burr, but she can edge him out. Join me and help Deborah win by giving $5 or whatever you can.

North Carolinians need a Senator who is committed to bringing opportunity, economic security, and inclusiveness to everyone in the state. And Deborah is ready to fight for Social Security and Medicare, affordable higher education, equal pay, and small business.

She’ll stand up to Republican leaders who try to cut voting rights, chase away businesses with discriminatory laws, and limit women’s access to health care.

But Deborah needs our help to stop Super PACs from controlling this election. Karl Rove’s group already launched a $2.5 MILLION campaign against her, McConnell's group Senate Leadership Fund is spending $8.1 MILLION, and the Kochs are getting ready to swoop in.

This is our chance to flip North Carolina’s Senate seat and help turn the Senate blue. Let’s take it. Put $5 toward a Deborah Ross victory.

Thank you, Wendy
