I had the privilege of meeting Wendy Davis again at an event in San Antonio. She was lovely and smart and courageous.  She gave a great talk distinguishing herself from Gregg Abbott.
But I need to say that we in Texas are "calling in the chips" for all we have done for YOU. In past elections, we have made many calls to your state to support Democratic candidates including our President, Barack Obama.  San Antonio had a project called Alamobama that made many phone calls to support your Democratic candidates in battle ground states. We have been often ignored as a no chance for Democrats. But now, we have had a hard push to register many voters and we need support for our Democratic candidates.
We have registered many voters! But we still need help!

Battle Ground Texas has done an awesome job! I was excited to attend the Battle Ground  Texas party  while at the NetRoots convention in San Jose. I remember swiping my credit card on a computer to start the fundraising. I met Jeremy Bird and a quite a few Texas progressives from Texas.

I am asking for you Democratic activists and progressives to consider donating some money however small towards one or both of these candidates.
As Texas goes, so goes the country.
Gail Collins has a book explaining all the bad ideas coming out of Texas. So we need to slay the beast in it's heart.  Texas affects all our children's textbooks, the push for vouchers, testing abuse. I could go on......

So please consider donating to Wendy or Leticia or both!

Frm Wiki
Wendy Russell Davis[3] (born Wendy Jean Russell,[1] May 16, 1963) is an American lawyer and Democratic politician from Fort Worth, Texas. Davis represents District 10 in the Texas Senate. She previously served on the Fort Worth city council. She is her party's nominee for Texas governor in the Texas gubernatorial election in 2014.[4]

On June 25, 2013, Davis held an eleven-hour-long filibuster to block Senate Bill 5, a measure which included more restrictive abortion regulations for Texas. The filibuster played a major role in Senate Democrats' success in delaying passage of the bill beyond the midnight deadline for the end of the legislative session, though it ultimately passed in a second session. The filibuster brought Davis national attention, leading to speculation about a run for governor.[5] In October 2013, she announced that she would run for governor in 2014 to succeed the retiring Republican Rick Perry.[6]

From Wiki
Leticia R. San Miguel Van de Putte[1] (born December 6, 1954)[2] is a Democratic member of the Texas Senate representing the 26th District in San Antonio, Texas, and is the Democratic nominee for Texas Lt. Governor. Previously, she was a member of the Texas House of Representatives. Van de Putte is currently the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor in the November 4, 2014 general election. She will face Republican state Senator Dan Patrick, of Houston, in the November 6 general election.[3] Van de Putte won her own primary for lieutenant governor without opposition in the March 4 primary; she polled 451,211 votes. She is seeking the lieutenant governorship on a party ticket with senatorial colleague Wendy R. Davis of Fort Worth, who is running against the Republican gubernatorial nominee Greg Abbott of Houston.[4]

Van de Putte currently represents Texas Senate District 26, which consists of a large portion of San Antonio and Bexar County. She has represented the district ever since she won a special election to the Senate in 1999. In 2003, she was appointed Chair of the Texas Senate Democratic Caucus, a position she held until 2011. Van de Putte currently serves as Chair of the Veteran Affairs and Military Installations Committee, and also is a member of the Senate Committees on Education, State Affairs, and Business and Commerce. She is also co-chair of the Joint Committee on Human Trafficking.[7]

She considered running in the 2010 race for governor against Republican Rick Perry, but in June 2009 decided to run for re-election to the Texas Senate.[8]

On June 25, 2013, following a 10-hour filibuster over abortion restrictions by State Senator Wendy Davis, Van de Putte queried the Presiding Officer, State Senator Robert L. Duncan, a Republican from Lubbock, whom she said had ignored her repeated motions earlier. Van de Putte asked, "Mr. President, at what point must a female senator raise her hand or her voice to be recognized over the male colleagues in the room?"[9]
